Pride & Prejudice

Another BaCStage alumnus is treading the boards next month. Tessa is in the Over Players production of Pride & Prejudice at Over Community Centre from June 1st to 3rd, playing the part of Lady Catherine de Bourgh. In her own words, she’s channelling her inner nasty! Tickets are on sale now.
If you love Pride and Prejudice either as the book, a film, or the TV series, then this play is for you. We may not have Colin Firth swimming in a lake, but we do have a delightful and energetic take on the classic tale, full of laughter and madcap characters. It will be a great evening out that won’t break the bank.
Mr. Bennet (Les Wheeler) is a calm as a man with five daughters can be. Poor Mrs. Bennet (Mandy Turpin) is as nervous as a woman with five daughters can be. Getting them safely married off to improve the family fortunes is her goal. Although the lovely Jane (Amy Carson) dutifully attends her mother, her sister Mary (Jess Turpin) is more interested in her books. Lydia (Hannah Whiffin) and Kitty (Maisy-May Gilhart) are flighty fun-loving young women who adore the attentions of soldiers visiting the town, however independent Elizabeth (Kirsty Jackson-Smillie) has the ridiculous notion to marry for love, and and has no interest in her mother’s games.
When Elizabeth meets the wealthy and handsome Mr. Darcy (Jack Stinton) she judges him to be proud, arrogant and so rude she can hardly bear his presence. As they keep meeting, they come to discover that first impressions may not be all that they seem. Can they grow past their prejudices? This perennial story about finding love is 100% relevant today
