Mystery, Chips and Santa
Is that the new smash-hit daytime TV show about a detective agency with a surprisingly varied case load including high-jinx, mild peril and a misunderstanding about an elf with a penchant for seaside-themed takeaway food? Even more implausible than that, it’s a description of last Saturday night round at BaCStage Towers!
We brought you mystery in the form of our first ever Murder Mystery night. We had a lot of fun doing it and, based on comments from punters on the night, it seemed to go down well. Congratulations to table 7, who correctly identified the murderer, and commiserations to those on other tables, especially those individuals who picked the wrong ‘un correctly but were overruled by their table-chums. Another Murder Mystery night is definitely on the cards for the future.
We brought you chips thanks to our friends at Bluntisham Fryer. Enormous thanks to them for serving up sixty portions of chips, along with fish and/or sausages of a meaty or plant-based variety, and all on the hottest day of the year so far! We couldn’t have done it without you. A special mention also for the rather tasty desserts provided by our production team. Nom nom and, if I may add, nom (also, nom – Foody Ed).
Before all that though, Santa brought us a gift. Now, I know what you’re thinking – surely Santa is currently on his summer holidays, recharging his batteries before returning to Lapland to make all of this year’s toys and gifts? Well, obviously! But as you may know, Santa takes time off from his busy schedule in the run up to Christmas to come and do a bit of fund-raising on behalf of the St Ives Rotary Club. This year they have decided to make a donation to BaCStage, for which we are hugely grateful. Santa himself called in on his way back to Lapland to present us with a cheque, prior to the mystery unfolding and the scoffing of the chips.

Thank you very much to Santa, now back to Lapland with you – those presents won’t wrap themselves. A big thank you also to the St Ives Rotary Club.
Next up for us is our autumn production, The Vicar of Pidley (that’s The Vicar of Dibley, sir – Frank Pickle). We have ourselves a splendid cast and we’ve already started rehearsals. More info coming soon…
